WHAT MAKES A gazebo durable?

Sturdy, durable, indestructible and stable: there are many terms to describe a solid pop up gazebo like Ecotent ones. Here’s why:

Their material: aluminium is a lightweight but very strong and safe material. Through the anodising process, we make it even more corrosion-resistant so rust doesn’t stand a chance. Did you know that the dome of the Church of Saint Joachim in Rome was covered with aluminium sheets in 1898 and still appears in excellent condition today, after more than a hundred years? Their shape:The ribbed square aluminium legs and all frame components are thick enough for maximum strength and uncompromising user-friendliness.
Their technical features: numerous devices, such as our patented peg system instead of classic screws, spacers, reinforcements and plastic safety covers, make the frame and textile wear-proof.
Their textiles: We use only high-quality polyester to ensure maximum tear-resistance for both the roof and sidewalls.

OUR TIP for strong winds

In case of strong winds, we recommend packing away your pop up gazebo: it only takes two minutes, anyway! With the right fastening, our E1 series pop up gazebos have proven to withstand wind speeds of up to 100 km/h, but some weather conditions can be too extreme even for them!

Simple yet effective

Correct fastening for weatherproof gazebos

Fastening, when done right, makes your gazebo permanently stable. The only thing to consider is the type of ground it’s on:

Solid ground: concrete or paved surfaces provide ideal conditions for setting up and securing a folding marquee using 10 and 20 kg weights, since pegs cannot be driven into the ground. To increase stability, we recommend stacking several weights on top of one another.
Soft ground: a fastening kit with pegs is ideal for lawns, but weights can also be easily added as extra.

How much weight is needed to secure your gazebo so it can withstand strong winds?

The larger the gazebo, the more weight it will take to properly secure it to the ground. Above a certain wind speed, it’s advisable to pack it away, in any case, and to determine that speed, we had our products tested in the wind tunnel by a certified international engineering institute. The table below shows you the maximum wind speed that each size of gazebo (without sidewalls) can withstand and how much weight is needed to secure it in given wind conditions.

Understanding wind using the Beaufort scale

Anchoring the gazebo with maximum weights is always a safe bet, but how do you measure wind speed?

The most immediate solution for determining wind speed is, of course, to check the websites of local weather stations which will indicate the wind speed measured almost in real time. However, if you would like to find out more, you can use the Beaufort scale. Below are the levels from 4 to 12, leaving out lighter winds from 0 to 3.

4	20-29 km/h	Moderate breeze	Wind raises dust and paper. Branches move.
5	30-39 km/h	Fresh breeze	Small trees with leaves begin to sway.
6	40-50 km/h	Strong breeze	Shrubs with leaves sway. Small waves form in inland waters.
7	51-62 km/h	High wind	Whole trees sway; walking against wind is difficult.
8	63-75 km/h	Gale	Twigs break off trees; moving cars veer.
9	76-87 km/h	Strong gale	Slight structural damage occurs; shingles may blow away.
10	88-102 km/h	Storm	Trees uprooted; significant structural damage occurs.
11	103-117 km/h	Violent storm	Widespread damage occurs
12	≥118 km/h	Hurricane	Widespread damage occurs.

Actual weather conditions may differ from a controlled situation in the wind tunnel with one-way blowing. Nevertheless, we can firmly establish that, with the correct fastening, our E1 series gazebos can withstand any non-extreme wind conditions, and our E2 and E3 gazebos also withstand the most common wind conditions.

IS A FOLDING gazebo WITH SIDEWALLS STABLE?

In windy weather, our sidewalls provide user-friendly all-around protection. Just be careful when it comes to the orientation of your pop up gazebo because sidewalls provide the wind with a large surface area and you risk creating a ‘sail effect’. Therefore, if the wind increases, the sidewalls should be removed as soon as possible.

The textile of our sidewalls is very strong and tear-resistant and, thanks to their durable velcro, they always remain firmly attached to the roof. They can be connected to one another using velcro strips or zippers. By choosing the second option you can completely insulate the inside of the gazebo so no draught of air can enter.

Closed sidewall

Classic. Attached in no time with Velcro straps, the closed side panel is a popular accessory option. On the one hand, it offers all-round protection from wind and weather, on the other hand, it creates additional printable advertising space.

Open Sesame

Come on in! The side panel with roller door invites customers or guests to step inside the pop up gazebo. The door can be completely opened and rolled up from the inside as well as from the outside by means of two zips.

Sides with window

Beautiful views. The side panel with PVC window allows you to look outside while it protects you from wind and weather. Thanks to the large panorama window, the pop up gazebo appears brighter and larger, creating an inviting atmosphere.

At waist level

Half-height sidewall

Ideal height. The half-height side panel enables direct customer contact at eye level. About one metre high, it is perfect for sales and trade fair stands. The crossbar with keder profile ensures a simple and stable attachment.

Even more capacity. Quickly assembled and fixed to the tent structure, the counter with its galvanised steel frame and glazed, wooden top is the perfect accessory for catering and event tents.
